Several of my siblings and children have posted comments about President Thomas S. Monson's Sunday morning address where he referred to the first letter that my dad wrote home when he was a P.O.W. in Vietnam. I felt inclined to write to President Monson after that experience. I included a letter that one of my father's close friends had written to President Harold B. Lee. I was just hoping that the letter would get past the "mail screeners" at church headquarters. I never imagined that President Monson would take the time to write a personal response!
